Certification for the practice of diagnostic cardiac catheterization

Requirements:

First: Knowledge and Clinical Practice Training:

Candidates should have completed education, full knowledge and comprehensive training in clinical cardiology including the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular medicine supervised by a professor with doctorate degree in cardiovascular medicine. The candidates should have complete detailed practical training and theoretical knowledge in the subjects included in the following curriculum (appendix 1).

Second: Certification

Candidates should have obtained one of the following degrees for the practice of cardiovascular medicine:

1. MD in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiovascular medicine in Egyptian Universities.
2. Master in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiovascular medicine in Egyptian Universities.
3. Egyptian fellowship in cardiovascular medicine from the board of medical education fellowship, Ministry of Health.

Third: Training Requirements

1. Candidates should have had full time training on cardiac catheterization supervised by a professor/ consultant with MD degree in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiology in Egyptian universities or one of the following institutes of health: National Heart institute, Nasser Institute, Armed Forces Hospitals, the Health Insurance Hospital at Nasr City and Shark El Madina Hospital in Alexandria.
2. Candidates should have spent at least 3 years dedicated for full training at the cardiac catheterization laboratory and should have performed at least 300 diagnostic cardiac catheterization procedures as the primary operator, including valvular, structural and congenital heart disease.

Including:

Total diagnostic procedures	300
Valvular and structural heart disease	50
Congenital Heart Disease	20

3. The application should be endorsed by the recommendation, approval and signature of two professors/ consultants with MD degree in cardiovascular medicine and either 15 years of experience in cardiac catheterization or 1000 cardiac interventional procedures.

Requirements:

Candidates should have completed education, full knowledge and comprehensive training in clinical cardiology including the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases in a department of cardiovascular medicine supervised by a professor with doctorate degree in cardiovascular medicine. The candidates should have complete detailed practical training and theoretical knowledge in the subjects included in the following curriculum (appendix 1).

Second: Certification

Candidates should have obtained one of the following degrees for the practice of cardiovascular medicine:

1. MD in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiovascular medicine in Egyptian Universities.
2. Master in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiovascular medicine in Egyptian Universities.
3. Egyptian fellowship in cardiovascular medicine from the board of medical education fellowship, Ministry of Health.

Third: Training Requirements

1. Candidates should have had full time training on cardiac catheterization supervised by a professor/ consultant with MD degree in cardiovascular medicine at one of the departments of cardiology in Egyptian universities or one of the following institutes of health: National Heart institute, Nasser Institute, Armed Forces Hospitals, the Health Insurance Hospital at Nasr City and Shark El Madina Hospital in Alexandria
2. Candidates should have spent at least 6 years dedicated for fu ll training at the cardiac catheterization laboratory and should have performed at least 150 interventional cardiac catheterization procedures as the primary operator, including primary PCI, valvular and congenital heart disease interventions.

Including:

Total diagnostic procedures	150
Valvular and structural heart disease	20
Congenital Heart Disease	20

3. The application should be endorsed by the recommendation, approval and signature of two professors/ consultants with MD degree in cardiovascular medicine and either 15 years of experience in cardiac catheterization or 1000 cardiac interventional procedures.
